St. Stephen the Martyr School is united in Christ to ignite the joy of faith, community, and learning.
The philosophy of Catholic education takes into consideration the total personality of the student in the imparting of knowledge. There is unity of purpose springing from the students oneness. The school is responsible for contributing to the total development of each student in terms of his origin, nature, and destiny. St Stephen the Martyr School exists as a unit of the Mystical Body of Christ and as an institution of society. As such, its function is two-fold. First, it strives always to help the student grow in Christian love of God and all creatures, and secondly, it helps students in their search to find their full human potential. In order to obtain these goals we will:
- Encourage a love and devotion to God by means of frequent use of the Sacraments and other liturgical services.
- Promote the Christian view of all persons as children of God and thus worthy of our love, respect and help.
- Assert the necessity of proper use and care of all God’s creatures.
- Promote honesty to oneself and peers.
- Maximize individual development.
- Achieve proficiency in basic skills.
- Develop intellectual capacities to think, solve problems, and synthesize information.
- Promote an understanding of the role and importance of a moral citizen.
St. Stephen the Martyr School seeks to collaborate with parents and guardians to educate the whole child by providing an excellent education rooted in gospel values. Under the guidance of our pastor, Fr. Dave Belt, and our associate pastor Fr. Padraic Stack our school strives to impart knowledge, love, and devotion to God through the sharing of school liturgies, daily prayer, and catechetical instruction in the Catholic faith. In support of this goal,
So that our students realize their greatest academic potential, St. Stephen the Martyr School holds itself to the highest standards of excellence. Our school is a Blue Ribbon School, and has received AdvancED accreditation by the Nebraska Department of Education. AdvancED accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance to distinguish schools. Designed on a standards-based framework to feed continuous improvement and transform education, AdvancED accreditation is sought and recognized by educational institutions worldwide.
With the support of our active Home and School Association and our parishioners, we maintain a facility, equipment, and technology management plan designed to continuously support the educational mission of the school. Our teachers participate in regular staff development to enhance their highly effective teaching strategies and classroom management skills. Offering three sections for kindergarten through the eighth grades, and preschool for three, four, and five year olds, we offer an exceptional educational program that is supported by an outstanding parish community. Please contact our school if you would like more information about our extraordinary Catholic elementary school.
