Liturgical Ministers – New Software Package for Scheduling
We will begin utilizing a new software package to schedule all of you for your liturgical roles at Mass. You will all be receiving an email in the next week from me regarding how to establish an User ID and Password. We will initiate this with our next schedule which starts in February. I will also be placing a schedule out there for our upcoming Holy Day, Christmas and Solemnity of Mary Masses where you can sign up to assist with your liturgical role.
This software will allow the following:
- Empowers you to enter your unavailability dates
- Allows you to request substitutes
- Will send you reminders prior to the weekend you are scheduled
Watch your email for more information and for those that don’t have email, please watch your mailbox in the future for your schedule as always.
Join us for the first MARTYR JUMP STARTER Sunday, Dec. 2nd at 10am!
Would you like to “jump start” your Advent? Come to the Dining Room for coffee, donuts, conversation and Advent Inspiration by Fr. Dave. All parishioners welcome! If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Ashton at email@example.com or 402-861-4507.
Holy Day Obligations
Q. I am confused about the Immaculate Conception. I understand the chart that you sent, but don’t understand how I can fulfill either obligation on Saturday night. Can you help me out?
A. For reference, here’s the chart:
The requirement is to attend Mass on a Holy Day and a Sunday. There is no requirement to attend Mass that celebrates a specific feast, if there is more than one legitimate option. This is much like what we do for confirmation. If the Mass of Confirmation is celebrated on a Sunday, it trumps the Sunday readings and Mass propers. But, the people attending that Mass still fulfill their Sunday obligation. They need not attend a second time to hear the Sunday readings and Sunday Mass propers. Briefly, the obligation means go to Mass once for the Immaculate Conception and another time for the Sunday.
We will be decorating for the beautiful Christmas Liturgies on Wednesday evening, December 19th at 7:30 p.m. If you want to obtain Confirmation Hours you must sign up with a parent by utilizing the Sign Up Genius below. We would love to see more Adult Men assist with our decorating as well. It takes many hands and strong backs to retreive all of our decorations from the basement. For further information feel free to contact Karen at firstname.lastname@example.org
Christmas Decoration Removal:
We will be removing our Christmas decorations on Sunday Night January 6th following the 6:00 p.m. If you want to obtain Confirmation Hours you must sign up with a parent by utilizing the Sign Up Genius below.
Fr. Doug Hall
Yesterday evening, the chancery received word of the death of Fr. Doug Hall. Fr. Hall was ordained in 1979, and served many years as a military chaplain prior to his retirement from active duty. He most recently served as senior associate at St. Stephen the Martyr Parish in Omaha. He retired from active ministry last year due to ill health. He was an ordination classmate of Fr. Mike Grewe and Fr. Dan Kampschneider.
Funeral arrangements are pending. Please remember Fr. Hall in your prayers, especially at the altar.
