We asked Leslie some questions so that we can get to know her better.

What is your name?
Leslie Schulte

How long have been a staff member at St. Stephen the Martyr?

What is your position?
Director of Communications

Where did you work before St. Stephen the Martyr?
Most recently, I’ve been staying home with my children. Prior to that, I worked for a CPG company that sold flea and tick products for animals. The majority of my career, however, was working in marketing and communications for hospitals and clinics.

Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school?
I grew up in Independence, Iowa – completing my K-12 education there. I moved to Omaha to attend Creighton University, where I received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and met my husband!

Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
My husband, Adam, is a pharmacist for Nebraska Health Network. We have three children: Milo (9 – 4th Grade), Bastian (7 – 2nd Grade) & Amelia (5 – Kindergarten). In the spring of 2022, we got our first pet: a golden retriever puppy named Ruby. She keeps us all on our toes!

Spend time with my family

What’s your least favorite chore around the house?
Making little people breakfast, lunch & dinner. (Rinse & Repeat)

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I’m rather good at untangling a slinky. I also speak French (decently, but not fluently) and my dad ensured that I knew how to golf, again, just decently!

What is your favorite food?
Almost any breakfast food

What is your favorite sweet treat?
Mini cinnamon powder donut

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
That my parents are proud of the woman I’ve become

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
Mosquito net, fire starter, sunscreen

What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Warm & sunny, drinking coffee in the driveway with Adam while the kids play

What do you enjoy most about working at St. Stephen the Martyr?
I love being able to contribute to a community that has given (and continues to give) my family so much.

Which word in our mission statement has the most impact on you? Why?
All – it’s a tiny little word in the middle of the statement that you may miss if you aren’t paying attention, but it is powerful to me. St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church is a community for ALL, no matter where you are in your walk with Christ.

What advice do you have for others to grow their Catholic faith and relationship with Jesus Christ?
Jesus loves you just as you are, exactly where you are. Get to know His love; it will change your heart and life.
