The Pastor’s Connection – August 2, 2018

Announcement (Update):

During the course of a recent review by the Archdiocesan Finance Office, the Project HOPE program was evaluated for continued viability.

With increasing labor costs, declining profit margins over the last several years, and the fact that selling gift cards is considered Unrelated Business Income for the church (and the income would be subject to a nearly 40% tax), the St. Stephen’s Finance Council made the decision that Project HOPE is no longer a viable program for the parish.

This past week there has been a run on the Project Hope cards and we are depleting the inventory quickly.  If anyone has Project Hope Gift Certificates, please do not delay in turning them in.  When the inventory is gone the program will be discontinued and there will be no more ordering of gift cards.  Don’t miss the boat!  Turn in those certificates today.

There are still some Project Hope items on the trees in the gathering space.  If the particular card you are looking for is not in inventory, please select an alternative card from what is left.

Further updates will be included in the Pastor’s Connection and the parish bulletin.

This week:

Saturday, August 4th 8:30 am-10:30 am at Hawthorne Park (17510 Orchard Ave.)  Please bring your whole family! Donuts and juice will be provided! Please RSVP for this summer event at martyrmoms.eventbrite.com (RSVP requested but not required). And be sure to email ssmartyrmoms@gmail.com to be added to our email list for future events.
