The Pastor’s Connection – July 19, 2018

Associate Pastor Edition

It’s hard to believe that almost three weeks have passed since I started my assignment here at St. Stephens and as I take time to reflect on these weeks, I am filled with gratitude. It has been a joy meeting so many of you and I am grateful for your warm welcome—it has made the transition into parish life much easier. While I thoroughly enjoyed my theological studies at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, the moments in a parish each weekend solidified in my heart and mind that the parish is where I truly belong. Even though I had several parish assignments throughout my time in seminary, there is still much to learn; so, I am grateful also for your patience with me. I am new to the priesthood and to the many different opportunities to serve that come with this vocation, but I am excited to delve into those opportunities with you. St. Stephens is definitely one of the largest parishes I have been in, but seems to be a very vibrant parish as well, one in which there is a strong desire to grow in knowledge and love of God. I look forward to fulfilling this desire with all of you in the coming weeks and years.

Rummage Sale News!!

The 2018 Rummage Sale is in the books!

We can be very proud of what we have accomplished together.

This year 105 volunteers expended over 2,000 hours getting ready for the sale.

During the sale, over 100 volunteers worked the sale and assisted with the clean up.

It was an incredible effort by the St. Stephen’s Parish Family.  We raised $31,148 in profit to continue our mission to be a community for all people to encounter Christ, know Christ, and proclaim Christ.

We carried out that mission during and after the sale.  The sale was visited by people from all over the city of Omaha and we donated the remaining items to fourlocal charities, a community outreach program, and towards a mission in Africa!

Thank you to everyone that assisted in the set-up, execution, and clean up of the 2018 Rummage Sale.  It was a success that we can all be proud of.

This week:

Parish 2 Parish is in its 5th year of being hosted by Mary Our Queen and has expanded to include 40+ teams and 6 different parishes

We are hoping that you are all able to join us in this year’s race, either as a participant or a volunteer. Runners of all pace are welcome to join!  This event has gained a reputation as a friendly competition that builds relationships among parishes and individual competitors.
