We asked Joe some questions so that we can get to know him better.

How long have been a staff member at St. Stephen the Martyr?
I started in July of 2022.
 
What is your position? 
Director of Operations
 
Where did you work before St. Stephen the Martyr?
I spent the past seven years with Pinnacle Bank where I focused on business development for the Trust Department and worked as a Trust Officer. Before Pinnacle Bank I worked for the University of Nebraska Foundation as a development and planned giving officer.
 
Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school?
I grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska, and attended Norfolk Catholic School.
 
Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.): 
My wife Renee and I have been married for 17 years and have three wonderful children, Jrake, Christian and Harrison. Our children attend St. Stephen the Martyr School, we added a golden doodle named Minnie to the family a little over a year ago.
 
What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Our weekends are spent attending our boys’ sports, baseball season is a big deal at our home. We also enjoy seeing movies as a family and all things outdoors.
 
What do you like to do for fun? What do you like to do to unwind/relax?
Our family enjoys traveling, we will be in New York later this fall. I enjoy reading and spending time at the pool with our kids.
 
What’s your least favorite chore around the house?
I would have to say folding laundry!
 
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a police officer.
 
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I come from a family of artistic individuals, I did not inherit that gift, but I do enjoy art and live music.
 
What is your favorite food?
Italian food is my favorite.
 
What is your favorite sweet treat?
Baklava!
 
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
That I am a great Dad
 
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
Fire starter, cell phone and a fishing pole
 
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Any day spent with family and friends at the lake or ocean
 
What do you enjoy most about working at St. Stephen the Martyr? 
Having the opportunity to collaborate and work with a very talented group of people who believe strongly in the mission of St. Stephen the Martyr.
 
Which word in our mission statement has the most impact on you? Why?
Community. We live in a fast-paced, loud world where it can be difficult to connect with others. SSM is a strong community that provides much to those who need it most.
 
What advice do you have for others to grow their Catholic faith and relationship with Jesus Christ?
Always be open to listening and taking chances that lead you to grow both in faith and stewardship.
