Where did you work before St. Stephen the Martyr?
I was the assistant principal at Field Club Elementary (Omaha Public Schools) for two years. Before that I taught 3rd grade at Fullerton Elementary (OPS) for five years, 4th grade at Western Hills Elementary (OPS) for seven years, and 2 years teaching 4th grade at Outley Elementary (Houston, TX).
 
Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school?
I was born and raised in Kearney, Nebraska. I attended Kearney Public Schools for elementary school, and went to to Kearney Catholic for grades 7-12. I attended The University of Nebraska at Kearney for my undergrad.
 
Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.): 
My wife Nicole and I have three daughters. Lily, Maci, and Piper all attend SSM. We also have a labradoodle named Maggie.
 
What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Coach my daughters’ sports teams, work on projects around the house, watch sports, cheer on the Huskers, and spend time with family.
 
What do you like to do for fun? What do you like to do to unwind/relax?
Camp, being active outside, playing games with my girls. Finding a spot on the couch next to the dog watching sports is my type of relaxing.
 
What’s your least favorite chore around the house?
All of them 🙂
 
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A professional athlete. Of course I thought I had a chance to go pro in all the sports I played!
 
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I love playing Fantasy Football and working with my dad on our sports card collection.
 
What is your favorite food?
Chicken Pot Pie
 
What is your favorite sweet treat?
Scotcheroos
 
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
“You’re the best teacher my daughter ever had, and we still talk about you all the time.”
 
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
Sunscreen, , Inflatable Flamingo Float, Helicopter (to leave the island)
 
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
The beginning of fall but a beautiful 70 degrees. My girls each having a sport in the morning followed by a Husker game in the late afternoon. My family being together, laughing, and spending time with the people and things we love the most.
 
What do you enjoy most about working at St. Stephen the Martyr? 
Being part of a united community where people share and work together towards the same mission
 
Which word in our mission statement has the most impact on you? Why?
Encounter- I have the opportunity to encounter Christ every day in the faces and voices of the children and adults of SSM.
 
What advice do you have for others to grow their Catholic faith and relationship with Jesus Christ?
Be present, open, and accepting
