Dean Strehle, has been a parishioner since early 1990s and gives his time and talent as a Sacristan and training students to become Altar Servers. Dean is married to Judy (for 56 years!) and they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

How did you get started volunteering at St. Stephen the Martyr?

I was an EMHC at St. Gerald’s for 7 years and transferred to St. Stephens as an EMHC.  I have been a Sacristan about 19 years.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

I enjoy working with the young and training them to be altar servers.  I also enjoy the challenge of being sacristan for special masses like funerals, holy days and other special masses.

What does St. Stephen the Martyr mean to you?

I feel it is part of my extended family.  I have watched kids that I trained as servers grow and come back married and now bond with their children.

Do you have any advice to other parishioners looking to give?

There is a spot for everybody and you will be greatly rewarded.
