Julie Tylski and husband Scott, of 25 years, have been parishioners for 19 years and have two children: Ashley (in PA school at UNMC) and Ethan (a Sophomore at UNL).   Julie and Scott give of their time, talent and treasure to St. Stephen the Martyr in many capacities including: leading the RCIA Becoming Catholic! program, helping with Baptism Prep, and serving on the Evangelization Council and Parish Council.  Julie also works with families as they prepare Weddings in our Church and has led many bible studies.  Julie answered these question so we could share their story!  Thank you, Julie and Scott for all you do!

How did you get started volunteering at St. Stephen the Martyr? I started volunteering at St. Stephen the Martyr when we moved to Omaha from Wichita. I missed my family and friends and I had two little kids. Our daughter was three and our son had just turned one a week or two before we moved. I got involved in anything that would allow me to bring my kids. Everyone welcomed me and I quickly made friendships that have lasted.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering? I enjoy volunteering because I get to meet new people and hopefully make a difference in their spiritual journey.

What does St. Stephen the Martyr mean to you? St. Stephen the Martyr is my home away from home.

Do you have any advice to other parishioners looking to volunteer? You will gain more than you give.
